Chief: 14 percent decrease in Jan. 2012 incidents

YEAGERTOWN - Mifflin County Regional Police Chief Scott Mauery delivered his January incident report during Thursday evening's meeting of the MCRPD Board of Directors.

Mauery said that compared to 2011, there was a 14 percent decrease in the total number of incidents reported in January. Of those incidents, 13 percent of part one offenses - murder, rape, robbery, aggravated assault, burglary and motor vehicle theft, among others - reported were cleared and 42 percent of part two offenses reported were cleared.

Twenty-six arrests were made in January, compared to 12 in 2011. Mauery reported a 53 percent decrease in traffic incidents from January 2011, but there were 19 non-traffic incidents in January up from 9 during the same month in 2011.

In other business the board:

discussed and approved the January monthly activity reports;

discussed and approved the January financial reports;

approved the minutes of the Jan. 12 regular meeting.

The Mifflin County Regional Police Department Board of Directors will hold its next meeting at 5:30 p.m. March 9 at MCRPD headquarters in Yeagertown.
