McALISTERVILLE - Irene E. Strawser, 86, of Locust Grove Retirement Village, Mifflin, and formerly of McAlisterville, died at 7:14 a.m. Monday, Feb. 6, 2012, at the Village.
Born May 10, 1925, in Mifflin, Juniata County, she was the daughter of the late Arthur C. Sr. and Beatrice (Saylor) Heikes.
On May 4, 1944, she married her husband, Wayne A. Strawser, with whom she shared 63 years of marriage, before he preceded her in death on May 19, 2007.
Surviving are: two sons, Robert W. Strawser and his wife, Jacquie, of Duncansville, and Mark A. Strawser, of Lebanon; four siblings, Sally Miller, of Mifflin, Harry Heikes, of Osceola Mills, Raymond Heikes, of Mexico, and Delbert Heikes, of Cogan Station; and she leaves behind two grandchildren, Krista Kauffman and Casey Strawser.
One brother, Arthur C. Heikes Jr., preceded her in death.
Mrs. Strawser was a homemaker who considered her faith her greatest priority and cherished her membership of the Good News Lutheran Brethren Church, McAlisterville.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 9, 2012, at the Brown Funeral Homes Inc., 111 Westfall Street, McAlisterville, with Pastor Michael Edwards officiating. Interment will follow in Niemond's Cemetery, Richfield.
Viewing will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of the service Thursday, at the funeral home.
