LEWISTOWN - For 21 years, the Reformation Recital at St. John's Lutheran Church has highlighted musical talent from around the Juniata Valley.
To celebrate the Protestant Reformation this year, the church is adding a little something extra to its celebration by paying tribute to Martin Luther.
Nathan Loudenslager, a young man who attends St. John's, will portray Luther's defining act that kicked off the Protestant Reformation in October of 1517, concert assistant organizer Scott Price said.

Luther nailed 95 theses onto the door of the church in Wittenberg, Germany, in protest of the Church's sale of indulgences, or forgiveness for some of the punishments of sin in Purgatory.
He wrote his 95 theses to Church officials arguing against the sale of indulgences and for the belief that salvation is received by faith alone.
On Oct. 30 at the beginning of the Reformation Recital, Loudenslager will nail the documents to a door being built by a member of the congregation, Price said.
The purpose of the concert is community outreach, Price said.
The recital will begin at 3:20 p.m. at the church, Third Street, Lewistown.
Featured musicians include flute duets by Jerry Stone and Jennifer Tressler, handbells by Peter Marsh, piano by Olivia Runk and Joy Horning, and piano duets by Terri Limes, Nellie Wilson and Patty Loudenslager, director of music; piano and organ duet by Lynn Phillips and Loudenslager; and a trumpet duet by Josie Baughman and Tracy Loucks, with Limes on piano.
Vocal talent will include solos by Chris Ruble, Graham Sanders and John Carpenter; duets by Andrea Nagel and Alisha Everly; Katie and Suzanne LaMarca; groups In Joy, St. John's Men's Chorus and the Vdov Family; and Mike Bratt and Dr. Richard Burns on vocals and guitar.
An offering will be taken for the St. John's Music Outreach. There will be refreshments after the recital.
