BELLEVILLE - Looking for that special something, for that special someone?
Look no further. The Artisan Connection has relocated to the loft at the Brookmere Winery in Belleville.
After losing her shop to a fire at the Dairyland complex on state Route 655 in June, Daphne Marthouse decided it was time to take a break from the retail business for a while. It wasn't a long break and after some encouragement from her daughter Lindsey, she decided to seek out a new location in the Big Valley.

Marthouse's "whimsical one of kind" items she sells at her shop are all from local artisans.
The Artisan Connection has everything from Wire Sculptured Trees, made by her husband Jim, to Turned Wooden Bowls. There is also hand-thrown pottery, mini quilts and holiday wreaths, as well as Whimsical Crayon Art, created by Marthouse's daughter.
A new addition to her shop is blown glass.

"The purpose of this is to get art, out into the local community ... and connect people to local artists," Marthouse said.
Marthouse said the new location provides a good outlet for her artists and she gets a lot of foot traffic from winery customers.
"I think we benefit and compliment each other very well," owner of Brookmere Winery Cheryl Glick said.
"It's a nice blend for customers coming in for wine, it's a nice fit," Marthouse added.
