UNIVERSITY PARK - Penn State defensive end Pete Massaro tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee during the team's spring practices Monday and will miss the entire 2011 football season, according to a press release issued by the school.
Massaro, who started 11 games this past season, is no stranger to knee problems as he tore the ACL in his right knee and missed the 2009 season, according to the release.
The redshirt junior was fourth on the team with eight tackles for loss during the 2010 season. He made 37 tackles (20 solo) with 3.5 sacks, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery. He made a career-high five tackles against Illinois and Ohio State and against Temple made three stops, with a sack and forced and recovered a fumble, the release states.
The Blue-White Game is set for 2 p.m. April 16 at Beaver Stadium.
