MIFFLINTOWN - Charlene Leone Eby, 66, of Rockville near Mifflintown, went peacefully to rest at 6:25 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 18, 2010, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on Feb. 18, 1944, in Lewistown, Mifflin County, she was a daughter of the late Joseph S. and Virginia R. (Smith) Singley. Her husband of 47 years, James E. Eby, whom she married on May 4, 1963, survives.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her five children, Mike Eby and wife Donna, of McAlisterville, Gina Bell and husband Greg, of Mifflintown, Todd Eby and wife Pam, of Lewistown, Michelle Rhodes and husband Doug, of Shippensburg, Jimmy Eby and wife Karen, of Sevierville, Tenn.; four sisters, Judy Hambright and husband Bill, of Mifflintown, Bonnie Hardy and husband Chuck, of Enola, Julie Forbes and companion Mike Morris, of Shermansdale, Dawn Myers, of Newville; three brothers, Stewart Singley and wife Leslie, of Urbana, Ohio, David Singley and wife Ardice, Bob Singley and wife Teresa, all of Mifflintown; and she leaves behind 18 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Eby was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, Mifflintown, and retired from Highmark Blue Shield in 2007.
She loved spending time with her church family. Once each month, she and her church family would sing hymns for the residents at Locust Grove Retirement Village.
Charlene found the good in everyone she met and was a loving inspiration to her family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 22, 2010, from the Brown Funeral Homes Inc., 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown, with Pastor Chris Buttery officiating. Interment will follow in Adams Cemetery, Mifflintown.
Viewing will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 21, 2010, at the funeral home.
