MIDDLEBURG - Midd-West got the new golf season under way on Thursday afternoon and brought home a second place finish - just seven strokes behind Selinsgrove's 401 that gave the Seals the first Heartland Conference victory of the year at Shade Mountain Golf Course.
Adam Winey (75), Zach Stuck (76) and Chris Will (76) topped the Mustang list as they became the first trio in school history to break 80 in a single match.
Blake Zechman (83) and Shane Connahan (95) rounded out the scoring for Midd-West who got the 2010 campaign off to a solid start.
"Our kids played very well today," Mustangs coach Brian Beward said. "Overall, every kid played extremely well from top to bottom for us."
The Mustangs (7-1) return to action on Tuesday at Shamokin.
