Lenore Violet Leonard

LEWISTOWN - Lenore Violet Leonard, 90, a resident of Ohesson Manor, Lewistown, died Saturday morning, June 19, 2010 at Ohesson Manor.

Born March 29, 1920 in Mount Union, she was the daughter of the late George Madison and Sarah Olive (Jones) Clark.

She was married to John K. Leonard on June 18, 1938 at Hagerstown, Md. He preceded in death on June 18, 1981.

Mrs. Leonard is survived by seven children: Mrs. Edd (Ann ) Burdge, Lewistown; Mrs. Nelson (Janet) Brown, Burnt Cabins; Mrs. Gary (Joan) Hershey, Three Springs; Mrs. Bart (Carolyn) Godsey, Carlisle; Marilyn Sanor, Fallbrook, California; Mrs. Stewart (Judy) Snyder, New Cumberland; and John E. Leonard and wife Roxanne of Shiremanstown.

Also surviving are 12 grandchildren, 12 great- grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded by two grandchildren, two brothers, and seven sisters.

Mrs. Leonard was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Lewistown.

She had worked as a seamstress at a number of local sewing factories.

Mrs. Leonard had been active in the senior citizens group in Lewistown. She enjoyed making ceramics and rug hooking.

She lived her early years in Mount Union, then moved to Blacklog Valley and later to Lewistown.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, June 23, 2010 at the Martin R. Brown Funeral Home, 565 Ridgley St., Orbisonia, with Rev. Karen McCachren officiating.

Interment will be made at Haven Rest Memorial Park, Shirleysburg. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday evening and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
