THOMPSONTOWN - Need coffee on the go? No problem for those driving through Thompsontown on weekday mornings.
Adam Dimm and his wife Jessica, of East Salem, opened First Cup Coffee on May 18 in Thompsontown. Adam said he got the idea to open the business, which is a mobile coffee shop, because he drives to Harrisburg for work every day.
"I kind of recognized it as a need for our area," he said.
First Cup offers flavored coffee, breakfast sandwiches, baked goods and other beverages, such as sweet tea, soda and juice, out of a trailer.
Adam Dimm said, on average, they serve between 60 and 80 customers daily. Their primary customer base is people coming from the Thompsontown area on their way to work, or those coming to or from Harrisburg, he said.
"It's kind of bringing that convience right to them," he said.
Dimm added that many people living in that end of the county, in such areas as East Salem or McAlisterville, must pass First Cup on the way to the highway, so it's beneficial for them as well.
Dimm said when they started the business, they didn't have any real expectations, they just knew it was something they wanted to do.
"We plan on being here," he said.
In terms of future plans or goals, Dimm said he'd like to continue to expand what the business offers, depending on what customers want. Additionally, an opportunity to be open on Saturdays might be a possibility in the future, he said, to offer breakfast events.
First Cup is open from 5:30 to 9 a.m. Monday through Friday. It is located about a quarter of a mile off the Thompsontown exit, off U.S. 322. Coming from Lewistown, take a right off the exit. For more information call 576-7446.
