How can we define a progressive? First, they're on the wrong side of every social or moral issue. These are the people who defend pornography. They cite the First Amendment regarding free speech. The First Amendment is their own tool to bash the rest of us across the head.
They've created special exemptions for their pet projects. We have hate crimes if they're committed against homosexuals or blacks. They have even branded certain speech as hate speech. If I were to say that on moral and religious grounds, homosexuality is wrong, they would have me jailed, if possible. Am I in favor of mistreating homosexuals? Absolutely not. Jesus said "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone," ... I am not without sin.
When we think of crimes against homosexuals, we think of Matthew Shepard. He was the young man of small stature who was brutally beaten, tortured and killed in Wyoming. No man should die like that. He died quite a few years ago and yet I remember his name. How come? Because the liberal media kept it in our faces forever. Every year around the time of his death, universities across this nation do plays honoring the life and death of Matthew Shepard. Appropriate? Perhaps.
In the same time frame as Matthew's death, a young boy died in Arkansas. I don't know his name. I only heard it once. His killers were two homosexual men who raped and tortured the boy until he was all used up. Then they killed him. Since I only heard about him once, I'd like to know if universities do plays about his life and death. I know the liberal media didn't care, because they ignored the story completely while focusing on Matthew Shepard.
Which tragedy is greater? Would it be the death of a 9-year-old or 21-year-old. I can't say. I do know the media made one into the hate crime of the century while completely ignoring the other. That is one way to define a progressive.
