Cora E. Wagner

BEAVERTOWN - Cora E. Wagner, 88, formerly of East Market Street, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2009, at RiverWoods Nursing Home.

She was born Nov. 29, 1921, in Middleburg, a daughter of the late Frank and Edna (Keister) Bowersox. On July 5, 1941, she married Andrew G. Wagner, who preceded her in death on May 11, 1999.

She attended Port Ann, Troxelville and Beaver Springs area schools.

Cora was a member of St. Paul's Reformed Church where she sang in the church choir, taught children's Sunday school, was a member of the Polly Anna class, and helped with class activities and church conferences.

Early on she was employed helping her father with the grocery store and post office in Benfer. She also worked at the Middleburg Canning Factory during World War II, Sam Bobb Manufacturing Co. in Beaver Springs, and also Davis Manufacturing Co. in Beaver Springs for the Woolrich Coat Factory.

She enjoyed baking, cooking and making Christmas dinners for her family, collecting antiques, but the love of her life was her grand, great grand and one great great-grandchild.

Surviving are two grandchildren and their spouses, Timothy A. and Marsha Wagner of Beavertown and Tammy A. and Brad Brought of Middleburg; four great grandchildren, Brooke N., Tyler M., and Aiden M. Wagner and Kimberly A. Brought; one great great grandchild, Evan S. Wagner; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Josephine and Wally Steurwald of Florida and Frances "Tomi" Anderson of Camp Hill; one daughter-in-law, Linda A. Wagner of Beavertown; and several nieces, nephews and extended family.

She was preceded in death in addition to her husband by one son, Jeremiah R. Wagner; three brothers, Albert, Elmer and Eugene Bowersox; and one sister, Viola Bowersox.

Friends and family may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul's Reformed Church in Beavertown where the funeral will follow at 11 with the Pastor Nancy J. Moyer officiating.

Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Beavertown.

Arrangements are by the Pheasant Funeral Home, 316 W. Market St., Beavertown.
