Earl T. Kirk

EAST WATERFORD - Earl T. Kirk, 90, of East Waterford, died at 1:10 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 20, 2009, at his home.

Born June 12, 1919, in Lack Township, Juniata County, he was a son of the late George E. and Sylvia N. (Marshall) Kirk. His wife of more than 63 years, Ethel S. (Kelley) Kirk, whom he married on April 27, 1946, survives.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: D. JoAnn Bryner, of McAlisterville, Judy M. Reed and her husband, Don Jr., Earl E. Kirk, Harold M. Kirk, all of East Waterford, Nellie R. Berrier and her husband, Stanley Jr., of Mifflin; five sisters, Erma Stallman, of Shade Gap, Rhoda Seville, of Fannettsburg, Ruby Palm, of East Waterford, Delores VanHorn, of East Salem, Alinda Bratton, of Mifflintown; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; one step great-granddaughter, and two step great-great- grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were one granddaughter, Patches Ruth Berrier, in infancy; one great-granddaughter, Kayla Deamer, in infancy; three brothers, Orville G. Kirk, Raymond C. Kirk, and Elmer J. Kirk Sr.; two sisters, Shirley M. Stitt and Dorothy Hockenberry and one son-in-law, John Bryner.

Mr. Kirk attended the South Juniata Baptist Church, Honey Grove, was a lifelong farmer, and in earlier life, worked for the Ernie Gloss Sawmill. While farming, he also worked as a pipeliner in East Waterford.

Earl was enthusiastic about working on antique tractors and riding his golf cart, and enjoyed spending his vacations with family and friends at Tuscarora Heritage Days, and watching Hee Haw, The Porter Wagoner Show and listening to Bluegrass music; but his greatest joy came from spending time with all of his grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2009, from the South Juniata Baptist Church, Honey Grove, with the Rev. Dennis Thompson officiating. Interment will follow in the East Waterford Cemetery.

Viewing will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2009, at the South Juniata Baptist Church, Honey Grove.
