Floyd J. H. Shawver
BEAVERTOWN - Floyd J. H. Shawver, 89, formerly of Beavertown, passed away at 8:20 p.m. Friday, Dec. 4, 2009, at The Manor at Penn Village, Selinsgrove.
He was born Sept. 12, 1920, in McClure, a son of the late Walter D. and Anna (Beaver) Shawver. On July 8, 1950, he married the former Phyllis Smith who survives.
He was a 1939 graduate of McClure High School and served in the Army as a sergeant during World War II, from 1942 to 1946.
Floyd was employed for 42 years at Standard Steel, Lewistown in the maintenance department, retiring in 1985.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church, McClure, where he served as church treasurer for many years. He enjoyed helping the Beavertown Fire Company with their meals and the Easter egg program. Floyd also served on the Beavertown Council.
Floyd was a very caring and loving husband. He assisted in the building of the Evangelical United Brethren Church, which is now the First United Methodist Church.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sisters, Grace Auman, of McClure, and Geraldine Brammer, of Menomonee Falls, Wis.; one sister-in-law, Vera Smith, of Lewisburg; and several nieces and nephews, Robert Smith, of Campbell, Texas, Hope Greiner, of New Berlin, Dawn Hummel, of Kreamer, Barbara Waite, of Selinsgrove, Janice Klingler, of McClure, Carol Morris, of Mechanicsburg, Dallas Auman, of Green Bay, Wis., Rebecca Wagner, of Lewistown, Ellen Knepp, of McClure, Dr. Harry Brammer III and Lisa D. Dziadosz, both of Wisconsin.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Pearl Auman, and one niece, Beth Auman, two nephews, Paul S. Auman Jr., and John Auman.
Friends and family will be received from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday at the Pheasant Funeral Home, 316 W. Market St., Beavertown, followed by funeral at 2 p.m., with Pastor Cecily Eisely officiating.
Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Beavertown.
