Accident victim’s identity released by police

From staff reports
POSTED: December 8, 2009

MILLERSTOWN - The identity of a Millerstown woman killed in a one-vehicle accident on Dec. 4 in Perry County was released Monday by Pennsylvania State Police Newport.

Police said Tina M. Adams, 44, of Millerstown, was traveling west along state Route 0017 at an apparent high rate of speed when she drove into the eastbound lane and onto its shoulder. Adams continued traveling west in her 1997 Pontiac Sunfire on the eastbound shoulder and struck a utility pole head-on, driving through the pole, according to the report.

The vehicle traveled north back onto the roadway, crossing both the east and westbound lanes, striking another utility pole before flipping onto its roof, police said.

Adams was partially ejected through the driver's side window when the vehicle rolled, and was pronounced dead at the scene by Perry County Coroner Michael Shalonis, the report states. Police said their investigation of the accident is ongoing.
