Millerstown woman dies in accident

MILLERSTOWN - A Millerstown woman was killed Friday afternoon in a one-vehicle accident along state Route 0017 in Greenwood Township, Perry County, Pennsylvania State Police Newport report.
Police said the woman, 44, whose name police have not released, was traveling west on the state route at an apparent high rate of speed when she drove into the eastbound lane and onto its shoulder. The woman continued traveling west in her 1997 Pontiac Sunfire on the eastbound shoulder and struck a utility pole head-on, driving through the pole, the report indicates. Police said the woman's vehicle traveled north back onto the roadway, crossing both the east- and westbound lanes, striking another utility pole and then flipped on its roof.
The Millerstown woman was partially ejected through the driver's side window when the vehicle rolled, and was pronounced dead at the scene by Perry County Coroner Michael Shalonis, the report states.
The investigation continues, police said.
