Ray W. Kline

BEAVER SPRINGS - Ray W. Kline, 93, passed away late Monday night, Nov. 30, 2009, at the Manor at Penn Village, Selinsgrove.

He was born April 10, 1916, in Beaver Springs, a son of the late Roy C. and Prudie (Wagner) Kline. On Aug. 12, 1944, he married the former Jean A. Zarfos whom survives.

He was a 1934 graduate of Beaver Vocational High School and attended Susquehanna University from 1934 to 1936.

Ray owned and operated Kline Motors in Beaver Springs for 50 years.

He was a life time active member of Christ Church, Beaver Springs where he had served as Sunday school superintendent, teacher and board member. He was a charter member of the West Snyder Rotary Club. Ray was very interested in his community and its growth and was currently serving on the board of the Snyder County Higher Education Authority. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 23 where he was a past commander.

Ray served in the Army for 4 years and spent 2 1/2 years serving in the South Pacific.

He enjoyed vacationing at his home and florida and was an avid golfer.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Gobel and Margaret Kline, of McClure; two daughters and one son-in-law, Kathryn and Al Phillips, of Beaver Springs and Carolynn "Lindy" Kline-Geertz of Norwalk, Conn.; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one sister, Geraldine Hassinger; one brother, Thomas Kline.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Leo Kline.

Friends and family will be received from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday at Christ Church, Beaver Springs, where the funeral will follow at 2 p.m., with Pastor Matthew Burris officiating.

Burial with military honors will follow in Adamsburg Cemetery, Beaver Springs.

Arrangements are by the Pheasant Funeral Home, 316 W. Market St., Beavertown.

Contributions in Ray's memory may be made to the memorial fund at Christ Church, 800 Center Ave., Beaver Springs, PA 17812.
