Debra D. Wert
PORT ROYAL - Debra D. Wert, 52, of Old Port, 77 Maple Lane, Port Royal, passed away quietly into the Lord's arms on Nov. 23, 2009, at Lewistown Hospital, surrounded by her family.
Born Oct. 28, 1957, in Lewistown, she was a daughter of Ralph L. and Esther C. (Kipp) Ritzman, of 47 Field Lane, Port Royal. Her husband, William C. Wert, whom she married Oct. 24, 1980, survives at their Old Port, 77 Maple Lane, Port Royal, residence.
Also surviving are two daughters, Sarah L. Wert and Mary Beth Wert, both at home; three sisters, Donna Zimmerman and husband Robert Jr., of Port Royal, Janice Welshonse and husband Donald, of Mifflintown and Jane Wirt and husband Glen, of Port Royal.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Karen Ritzman.
She graduated from Juniata High School, Mifflintown in 1975, and worked at Locust Grove Retirement Village, Mifflin for 20 years, before becoming a stay at home mom.
Debra also became a caregiver to her two beautiful grandnieces, Emily and Olivia Clark, whom she adored.
Debra accepted Jesus as her savior at a young age, and walked by faith her entire life. She was a member of the Port Royal Presbyterian Church since youth, helping for years at Good News Club at the church, and served as a deacon prior to her passing.
She enjoyed spending time with her family and numerous pets, including her beloved miniature schnauzers, Millie and Mazur. She also enjoyed collecting angels, reading and crafts.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 28, 2009, at Port Royal Presbyterian Church, Port Royal, with Pastor Crystal M. Lyde officiating. Interment will be in Old Church Hill Cemetery, Port Royal.
A viewing will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday at the church.
