LEWISTOWN - Betty A. Royer, 72, of 238 E. Fourth St., Lewistown, died at 7:51 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 12, 2009, at Lewistown Hospital.
Born Nov. 29, 1936, in Lewistown, she was a daughter of the late Jesse and Anna (Brasko) Lepley. Her husband, James P. Royer Sr., whom she married Feb. 14, 1972, survives.
Also surviving are daughters, Carrie E. Lepley, of Lewistown, Jamie A. Smith and husband Charles, of Lewistown and Dolores J. VanHorne and husband Richard Sr., of Lewistown; grandchildren, Tara Smith, Eric Smith and wife Jennifer, Richard VanHorne Jr. and Shelby VanHorne; great-grandchildren, Lisa Smith and Zachary Smith; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son, James P. "The House" Royer Jr., on Jan. 2, 1992; two brothers and a sister, Jesse Lepley Jr., Janice Hogle and John Lepley.
She was a 1955 graduate of Lewistown High School.
Early in life, she worked as an aid at Lewistown Hospital, and later for Gerbos Shoe Factory in Lewistown and Beaver Shoes in Beaver Springs.
She was Catholic by faith.
She was an avid Penn State and NASCAR fan and enjoyed following local sports teams.
Her funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 16, 2009, at Heller-Hoenstine Woodlawn Funeral Home, with the Rev. John Looney officiating. Interment will be in Lind Memorial Cemetery.
Family will receive friends from 10 a.m. Monday until the time of service at the funeral home.
