LEWISTOWN - Catherine C. Gahagan, 88, of 114 S. Pine Road, Lewistown, died at 4:30 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 9, 2009, at Ohesson Manor, Lewistown.

Born March 14, 1921, in Milroy, she was a daughter of the late William Wesley and Clara (O'Donnell) Carter Sr. Her husband, James Patrick Gahagan, preceded her in death on April 5, 1979.

Surviving are children, James S. Gahagan and wife Wanda, of Burnham, Mrs. John (Kathleen E.) Frankhouser, of Barrville; 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are brothers and sisters, Miss Sylvia Carter, of Lewistown, William W. Carter Jr., of Lewistown, Miss Patricia Carter, of Harrisburg, Mrs. William (Shirley) Hayes, of Erie and Daniel Carter, of Naginey.

She was preceded in death by a son, Larry Swartzel; daughter, Mary A. Colyer; siblings, Bertha Ammerman, Pauline DeLaura, Dorothy Bennett, Layfield R. Carter and Charles McClellan.

She had worked at Arrow Shirt Factory in Lewistown for 38 years.

She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Lewistown, and was a 1939 graduate of Milroy High School.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 16, 2009, at Bohn Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jeffrey Thoms officiating. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park, Lewistown.

Family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
