Brouses celebrate 50th anniversary

BEAVERTOWN- Harold and Salvania (Benfer) Brouse, of Beavertown, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Oct. 24, 2009, at a dinner hosted by their children for 70 family and friends at Carriage Corner restaurant in Mifflinburg.

The couple was married Oct. 24, 1959, by the Rev. Claude Hall at the parsonage of the Penns Creek Evangelical United Brethern charge in Penns Creek.

Salvania is the daughter of the late Wesley and Margaret Benfer, of Middleburg. Harold is the son of the late Charles and Helen Brouse, of Beavertown.

The couple has five children: two daughters, Vickie and her husband Richard Sprenkel, Middleburg; and Bonnie and her husband Gary Weikel, Middleburg; and three sons, Harold and his wife Denise (Shamory), Beaver Springs; Terry and his companion Tammy Stringer, McClure; and Shawn, Beavertown. They also have eight grandchildren: Jeffrey and Ryan Sprenkel, Heather Ritter and Nicholas Weikel, Kristin and Tanner Brouse, and Desiree Boyer and Megan Brouse. The couple also has eight great-grandchildren.

The dinner celebration was held exactly 50 years to the day of their marriage. The Brouses were toasted by their oldest son Harold, while a blessing prepared by Rev. Hall was delivered by their oldest grandchild, Jeffrey.

Harold and Salvania are retired.
