BURNHAM - George H. McLucas, 87, a resident of the Golden Living Center-William Penn, went home to be with his Lord at 5:45 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 5, 2009, at the center.
Born Oct. 2, 1922, in Franklin County, he was the son of the late Andrew and Annie (Hann) McLucas. He was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Mary (Ross) McLucas, on May 8, 2004.
He is survived by his children, Linda McLucas, of Burnham, Cathy Barnes and her husband Wallace, of McClure and Terry McLucas, of Lewistown; grandchildren, Liza McLucas, Rachel McLucas and Jamie McNemar; four great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are a brother and two sisters, Carl McLucas, of Burnham; Margaret McClellan, of Burnham and Edna Bryner, of Burnham.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Virginia Narehood.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during World War II in the European Theatre and was a POW for eight months in Germany.
He was employed as a rigger at Standard Steel in Burnham for 36 years, retiring in1982.
He was a member of the Parkview Church of the Brethren, USWU of America 1940 and the Burnham Fire Company.
His funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Heller-Hoenstine Burnham Funeral Home, 108 First Avenue with the Rev. Ronald L. Baker and the Rev. Ronald C. Stacey officiating. Interment will be in Birch Hill Cemetery where graveside military honors will be conducted by the VFW Post 7011 Lewistown.
Family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Parkview Church of the Brethren, 990 Parcheytown Road, Lewistown, PA 17044.
