LEWISTOWN - Harry G. "Glenn" Corkins Jr., 91 of 2 Fairway Place, Lewistown, died at 2:35 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2009.
Born May 14, 1918, in Lewistown, he was the son of the late Harry G. and Elizabeth (Bupp) Corkins. He is survived by his wife Judy (Kochenderfer) Corkins, whom he married on Sept. 1, 1973.
He also is survived by his children, Dr. Harry G. Corkins, of West Palm Beach, Fla., Dr. William N. Corkins, of Lakeland, Fla., Paula M. Corkins, of Florida, Kitty L. Gingrich, of Maryland and a step-daughter, Georgia Yeater and her husband Charles, of Milroy; seven grandchildren and a step-grandchild Abigail Krepps and her husband Jason, of Milroy.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, William and Max Corkins.
He was a graduate of Lewistown High School Class of 1937.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force having served during World War II in the European Theatre.
He was an entrepreneur and owner/operator of Decor Lanes in Lewistown and several other businesses in Lewistown.
He was a member of the Centre Union Church; a life member of the Lewistown Elks Lodge No. 663 and the Lewistown Moose Lodge.
His funeral service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the Heller-Hoenstine Woodlawn Funeral Home, 200 N. Main Street, with the Rev. George Moore officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Rock Cemetery with graveside military honors conducted by the VFW Post 7011 Lewistown.
Family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Centre Union Church, 470 Caldwell Hill, Lewistown, PA 17044 or the S.P.C.A., 2451 General Potter Highway, Centre Hall, PA 16828.
