Warren K. Zook
MIFFLINTOWN-Warren K. Zook, 98, of Mifflintown, died Monday, Nov. 2, 2009, at Lewistown Hospital emergency room.
Born June 27, 1911, in Port Royal, he was the son of the late Harry and Mary (Kelly) Zook. His wife, Berniece (Bashore) Zook, whom he married Aug. 18, 1937, died Nov. 4, 2005.
He is survived by two daughters, Betty Z. Stoner and husband, James A., and Carol Z. Rhine and husband, Richard E, all of Mifflintown; one sister, Virginia Minnich, of Thompsontown; four grandchildren, David Stoner, Kathy Stoner, Tim Rhine, and Tom Rhine and three great-grandsons, Shawn Stoner, Michael Rhine, and Tyler Rhine.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Dorothy Trout and one grandson, Richard W. Stoner.
Warren was a life-long farmer.
He was an active member of St. Stephen's Lutheran Church and a former Sunday school superintendent. He was a 60 year member of Union Lodge No. 324 F&AM and a member of Tall Cedars of Lebanon, the Juniata Co. Farm Bureau, Milford Grange, past president and secretary of PA Farmer's Association, and a former member of the Juniata Fair Board and the Russell Bank Advisory Board. He was also involved with the 4-H program.
Warren enjoyed traveling, riding his four wheeler and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandsons.
His funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 5 at St. Stephen's Lutheran Church, Licking Creek Valley with the Rev. Chris Mathiason officiating. Interment will be in the Westminster Presbyterian Cemetery, Mifflintown.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Guss Funeral Home, 20 S. Third St., Mifflintown, and one hour prior to the services on Thursday at the church.
