McVEYTOWN - Walter C. "Charlie" Kratzer Jr., 56, of 204 Sechrist Rd., McVeytown, died at 8 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2009, at his home.
Born April 21, 1953, in Lewistown, he was a son of Dawn A. (Powell) Joseph of McVeytown and the late Walter C. Kratzer Sr. His wife, Linda A. (Rhodes) Kratzer, whom he married May 11, 1973, survives.
Also surviving are children, Leslie A. Snyder and husband Vincent of Lewistown, Walter C. Kratzer III and wife Lori of Duncansville and Travis S. Kratzer and wife Megan of Mount Union; brothers and sisters, Patricia Rhodes and husband Daryl of McVeytown, Gerald Kratzer and wife Diane of East Waterford, Rose Sollers and husband Gary of McVeytown, Dennis Kratzer and companion Celeste Hook of McVeytown, Wayne Kratzer and wife Annette of Port Royal and Tracy Kratzer of McVeytown; six grandchildren, Morgan Snyder, Austin Snyder, Macy Snyder, Dalton Kratzer, Leah Kratzer and Zander Kratzer.
He was a U.S. Marine Corp. veteran of the Vietnam era.
He was a self-employed tractor trailer driver, enjoyed farming and spending time with his family.
His funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 31, 2009, at Heller-Hoenstine Woodlawn Funeral Home, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown with Mr. David Mitchell officiating.
Interment will be in Pine Glen Cemetery with military honors conducted by VFW Post 7011.
Family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
