Thomas E. Spearing

REEDSVILLE - Thomas E. Spearing, 78, of 4811 Old US Highway 322, Reedsville, died at 9:54 a.m. Monday, Oct. 26, 2009, at Lewistown Hospital.

Born March 3, 1931, in Riddlesburg, he was a son of the late James and Marguerite (Lear) Spearing. His wife, Martha Jane (Goss) Spearing, whom he married May 4, 1963, survives.

Also surviving: a son, Thomas E. Spearing Jr., of Reedsville; a brother, Charles Spearing and wife Audrey, of Linglestown; sisters, Joyce Wray and husband Dale, of Reedsville, Edith Laughlin and Marie Houser, both of Lewistown.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.

He worked for the American Viscose Corp., and later for Lewistown Specialty Yarns, retiring in 1993.

He was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, an avid fly fisherman and enjoyed hunting and camping.

His funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 29, 2009, at Heller-Hoenstine Woodlawn Funeral Home, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Gary A. Roth officiating. Interment will be in Belleville Lutheran Cemetery.

Family will receive friends from 10 a.m. Thursday until time of service at the funeral home.
