GRANVILLE - Mrs. William K. (Benny) Barr, 94 years, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 18, 2009, at the Malta Home.
Benny was born Jan. 29, 1915, in Smoke Run, Clearfield County. She was the daughter of the late Isaac and Gertrude Hambly Gorman. She was preceded in death by her husband, William K. Barr on May 28, 1975.
She is survived by the following: William A. Barr II and wife Patricia, of Ohio, Nina L. Searer and husband Larry, of Lewistown and Roger G. Barr and wife Linda, of Lewistown.
She is also survived by grandchildren, Douglas Bair, Leslie Sweeney, Maxi Curry, Dale Searer, Chris Wolfkill and Tyler Searer; and great-grandchildren, Tyson Searer, Harrison, Mason and Addison Sweeney and Jack R. Curry.
Mrs. Barr was co-owner of the Barr Funeral Home with her husband "Bill" and her son Roger G. Barr for over 50 years.
Benny was a member of the Lewistown Presbyterian Church, past president of the Soroptimist International Club Lewistown; past member of the Lewistown Country Club and Charity league.
Benny was an avid Bridge player. She was the first orphan at the Malta Home Granville in 1921. She loved having her family around her and playing games. All were welcome to her table.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 22, 2009, at the Barr Funeral Home, 120 Logan St., in Lewistown with the Rev. Robert Zorn officiating.
A visitation will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2009, at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Church Hill Cemetery in Reedsville.
