Derek E. Taylor

PORT ROYAL - Derek E. Taylor, 25, of 1051 Teaberry Lane, State College and formerly of Port Royal, died at 11:05 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 27, 2009, at Mount Nittany Medical Center, State College.

Born Aug. 6, 1984, in Lewistown, he was a son of Larry A. and Cindy L. (Beaston) Taylor, of 296 Gillaford Road, Port Royal. His wife, Kelsey L. (Miller) Taylor, of State College, survives.

Also surviving, three sisters, Jennifer N. Taylor, of Rochester, N.Y., Shania R. Taylor and Jordan A. Taylor, both at home.

He was preceded in death by a half-sister, Kathy Lou Taylor.

Derek was a 2002 graduate of Juniata High School, Mifflintown. He was a part- time student and a full-time employee of Penn State University, and worked as a computer systems design specialist.

He was an Eagle Scout and was a member of Licking Creek Boy Scout Troop No. 124, and was a member of the Order of the Arrow. Derek enjoyed camping.

Memorial services will be held at 8 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 1, 2009, at Matamoras United Methodist Church, Spruce Hill Township, Juniata County, with the Rev. Kenneth R. Kitzmiller officiating. Internment will be at the convenience of the family.

There will be no viewing.

Memorial donations may be made to Licking Creek Boy Scout Troop No. 124, 6865 Licking Creek Road, Mifflintown, PA 17059.

Rex Funeral Home, Port Royal, Pa., is in charge of arrangements.
