McCLURE - George S. Wray, 78, of 5310 Old Stage Rd., McClure, died at 3:05 p.m., Friday, Sept. 11, 2009, at his home.
Born Feb. 14, 1931, in McClure, he was the son of the late Lee and Alice (Manning) Wray.
He is survived by his wife, Janet (Wray) Wray, whom he married on Jan. 1, 1955.
Children surviving: Russel J. Wray and his wife Bonalea, McClure; Denise L. Hess and her husband James, McClure, and Douglas S. Wray and his wife Jody, New Bloomfield; grandchildren, Tricia, Tanja, Jonathan, Jessica, Rebecca, Tyler, Shawn, Justin, Samuel, Jessica and Douglas and 10 great-grandchildren.
Brothers and sisters, Thelma Messerman and her husband Melvin, Lewistown; Donald Wray, Lewistown; Ralph Wray and his wife Florence, McClure and Thomas Wray and his wife Shirley, McClure.
He was preceded in death by a son, Randy L. Wray, in May 2008.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during the Korean War.
He was owner/operator of Wray Brothers Lumber for 37 years, retiring in 1993.
He was a member of the Lauver's United Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Heller-Hoenstine Woodlawn Funeral Home, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown, with Pastor Cecily A. Eisley officiating. Interment will be in Lauver's United Methodist Cemetery.
Family will receive friends Monday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
