Robert S. “Checkie” Knepp

McCLURE - Robert S. "Checkie" Knepp, 77, of McClure, passed away Sept. 12, 2009, at Hearthside Nursing Home, State College, where he had been a resident for the past four months.

He was born June 30, 1932, in West Beaver Township, Snyder County, a son of the late Jesse A. and Mary (Bachman) Knepp.

In 1995, he retired from the former American Viscose, Lewistown, after many years as a loom operator. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.

He is survived by a brother, Gene Knepp, McClure.

He was preceded in death by a half-brother, Charles Rothrock and his wife, Carol Knepp, Beaver Springs.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. in the Aurand Funeral Home, 316 W. Market St., Beavertown, officiated by Pastor Lisa Shuster. Interment will be in the Salem United Methodist Church Cemetery, Armagh Township, Mifflin County. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.
