George Leon Bowersox

OAKLAND MILLS - George Leon Bowersox, 64, of Oakland Mills, died Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2009, at his home.

Born July 18, 1945, in Oakland Mills, he was a son of the late Harry "Boots" and Bertha (Rothrock) Bowersox. His wife, Patricia (Kreider) Bowersox, whom he has been with for 32 years, survives.

Also surviving are children, Georgia Nickel and husband Jeff, of Providence, Timothy Kearns Jr. and companion Trishia McNaight, of Oakland Mills, William Kearns and fiance April Van Horn, of Lewistown, Mindy Bassler and husband J.R., of McAlisterville, and Patti Bowersox, of Oakland Mills; brother and sisters, Harry F. Bowersox, of Liverpool, Helen Austin, of McAlisterville, and Ardice Singley, of Mifflintown; 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two infant sons, Joseph and Georgie, and one brother, Robert Bowersox Sr.

He worked as a log truck driver for L & R Lumber more than 20 years.

He was a member of the Evangelical Methodist Church and enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family.

His service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Sep. 11 at Guss Funeral Home with the Rev. Franklin Trego officiating. Interment will be in Union Cemetery.

Friends may call one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to help with expenses to Guss Funeral Home, 20 S. Third St., Mifflintown, PA 17059.
