Richard Raymond Miller
LEWISTOWN - Richard Raymond Miller, 75, of 488 Pine Glen Road, Lewistown, died at 1:40 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2009, at his home.
Born July 16, 1934 in Mattawana, he was the son of the late Theodore and Margaret (Emrick) Miller.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda L. (Palm) Miller whom he married on May 23, 1959.
Children surviving, Richard R. Miller and his companion Stacey L. Appleby, of Yeagertown and Sonya K. Hooper and her husband Michael, of Grambrills, Md.; grandchildren, Ryan and Matthew Miller, Kristin, Erica and Kathlyn Hooper.
Brothers and sister, Betty Bratton and her husband Bryson, of Lewistown; Paul E. Miller, Lititz; Bruce E. Miller and his wife Faye, of Lewistown and Ulysses W. Miller and his wife Helen, of Lewistown.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Ira, Lorrent and Glen Miller.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served from 1956 to 1958.
He was employed as a carpenter for Roy Crider Construction, retiring in 1995; early life, he was employed in the spinning department of the American Viscose Corporation.
He was a member of the Pine Glen Church of the Brethren and a life member of the Brooklyn Hose Company.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday at the Pine Glen Cemetery with the Rev. Donald Peters officiating. There will be no public viewing.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Malta Home, 105 Malta Dr., Granville, PA 17029 or Hospice-The Bridge, 400 Highland Ave., Lewistown, PA 17044.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Hoenstine Funeral Home, 75 Logan Street, Lewistown.
