LEWISTOWN - Katherine E. (Berich) Wells, 81, of E-6 Lawler Place, Lewistown, died at 12:20 p.m. Monday, Aug. 17, 2009, at Ohesson Manor, Lewistown.

Born Dec. 16, 1927, in Coburn, she was a daughter of the late John H. and Rosetta (Long) Decker. Her first husband, John James Berich, preceded her in death on Nov. 19, 1969, and her second husband, George E. Wells, preceded her in death on March 11, 1988.

Surviving are: children, Mrs. Anthony (Mary) Rupert, of Lewistown, Mrs. Larry (Betty) Lyter, of Reedsville, Mrs. Robert (Evelyn) Purdy, of Mill Creek, Mrs. Gregory (Ruth Ann) Harbaugh Sr., of Allensville, John J. Berich Jr., of Lewistown, Mrs. Randy (Beverly) Harshbarger, of McVeytown.

Also surviving: 15 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; four step-children; brother, Albert Decker, and sister-in-law, Katherine Wolfe, both of Spring Mills; and a niece, whom her mother raised, Grace Shawley, of Lock Haven.

She was preceded in death by four sisters, Sara Decker, Helen Snivley, Bessie Snively, Clara Fryer; and three brothers, Merrill Decker, Nevin Decker and Charles Decker.

She had been an aid at Valley View and Golden Living Center-William Penn.

She was a member of Evangelical Methodist Church, Lewistown.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 20, 2009, at Church Hill Cemetery, Reedsville with Pastor Barbara Mannino officiating. Interment will follow at the same location.

There will be no public viewing.
