July 4th events and closings
Events
LEWISTOWN - These are the events that are set to take place in honor of Independence Day:
Armagh Township, Milroy Fire Company and the Reedsville Fire Company - will provide a public fireworks display starting between 9:30 and 9:45 p.m. on Friday at the Armagh Business Center off of U.S. 322, near the Travel Center, Milroy. The rain date is Sunday.
Annual Independence Day Celebration - flea market and horse shoe tournament begins at 8 a.m.,, chicken barbecue at noon and parade starts at 7 p.m. on Saturday in East Waterford. Rain or shine.
Let Freedom Ring Concert - 7 p.m. on Friday in front of the historic Embassy Theatre in Downtown Lewistown. The Lewistown Community Band will give the concert, as it is free and open to the public.
The Harrisburg Symphony Orchestra - will present a free summer concert featuring family favorites and patriotic classics at 7:30 p.m. on Monday at East Juniata High School. The concert is sponsored by the First National Bank of Mifflintown and the Lawrence L. and Julia Z. Hoverter Foundation.
Closings
LEWISTOWN - These are the area locations that will be closed in honor of Independence Day:
New Shelter Thrift Shop - located on 13 Depot St., Lewistown, will be closed on Friday in observance of Independence Day, and will reopen on Monday.
The Call-A-Ride Service - will be closed on Friday for Independence Day. If you need at ride on Monday, you will need to call by noon on Thursday.
PA CareerLink Mifflin County - will closed in observance of Independence Day on Saturday.
PennDOT Driver License and Photo centers - will be closed Saturday in observance of Independence Day.
The Mifflin County Historical Society Research Library - will be closed Saturday. Regular hours of operation will resume on Tuesday.
