Remington Ryde Bluegrass Festival is July 10-11 in Reedsville

POSTED: June 19, 2009

REEDSVILLE -The 3rd Annual Remington Ryde Bluegrass Festival will be held July 10 and 11 at the Mifflin County Youth Park in Reedsville

This year the event will feature Grand Ole Opry star Rhonda Vincent & The Rage. The International Bluegrass Music Association awarded her its female vocalist award in 2000, 2001, 2002 and 2003. She also captured the IBMA's entertainer of the year award in 2001.

The Wall Street Journal calls Vincent "The New Queen of Bluegrass." She is sitting at the top of the bluegrass world along with Ricky Skaggs and Allison Krauss.

Vincent will perform at the festival on July 11, with shows at 3 and 8 p.m.

For more information on Vincent, visit her Web site at www.rhondavincent.com.

The festival will also feature one of the country's top show bands out of Branson, Mo., Goldwing Express, on July 10.

The festival is run by Ryan Frankhouser and Rob Henry. Frankhouser is the leader of the band Remington Ryde and, at just 25 years old, runs his own bluegrass festival.

"I want to promote bluegrass music as much as possible. Running a festival has always been a dream of mine and I'm very lucky to have so much support from so many people," Frankhouser said.

The festival will run each day from 10 a.m to 11 p.m., with nonstop music all day long.

On July 10, performing on the main stage will be Goldwing Express, Remington Ryde, Lykens Valley Bluegrass Boys, Chester Johnson & Foggy Mountain Grass, Texas Rose Band, Country Junction, and The Carroll County Ramblers.

Performing on July 11 will be Rhonda Vincent & The Rage, Remington Ryde, Lykens Valley Bluegrass Boys, Brush Mountain Band, Kate Lee & No Strings Attached, and The Jesse Alexander Band.

In between the main stage acts, there will be acts performing on RB Powell's Side Stage. Those acts will be announced at a later date.

New this year will be a Sunday morning church service at 9 a.m., followed by the Raven Creek Gospel band from 10 to 11 a.m. on July 12.

Not only will there be music all day but there will be food and craft vendors on hand, workshops held each day by the performers, and pickin' all day and all night long.

"The festival doesn't stop when the music ends; pickers gather all night long and just have a good time playing music. If you are a musician this is an event you want to attend. It is truly an event for the whole family," Frankhouser said.

RVs are welcome at the festival as well, with electric hook-ups available. There is also rough camping all throughout the grounds.

Ticket prices are: Friday only $15, Saturday only $25. Advance tickets are available until July 1 for $30. Children under 12 are free with a paid adult ticket. Both days camping is included.

"This is a festival I hope to have going on many more years to come. I would like to thank everyone who has attended the festival in the past and I am really looking forward to bringing so much great entertainment to central Pennsylvania this July," Frankhouser said.

To order advance tickets, call Frankhouser at 348-3537 or visit Remington Ryde's Web site at www.remingtonryde.com.
