SUNBURY - James Sylvester Thomas Wolfkill, 55, of 1202 Wolverton St., Sunbury, died at 3 a.m. Tuesday, April 28, 2009, at his home.
Born Aug. 1, 1953, in Lewistown, he was a son of the late James R. and Barbara Jeanne Regina (Burd) Wolfkill.
Surviving are: sisters, Yvonne Adele Wolfkill, of 436 Walnut St., Sunbury, Vanessa Rae Wolfkill, of 248 W. Fifth St., Lewistown, Lisa Jeanne Baitsell, of 18 Park Place, Lewistown, and Mrs. Renee Teresa Pacholski and husband, Scott, of 257 W. Fifth St., Lewistown.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, John E. Wolfkill, on Dec. 29, 1958.
He attended Sacred Heart School, Lewistown, from K through 8th grade and was a 1972 graduate of Penn Highlands.
He was employed at Selinsgrove State Center for 32 years, first as an aide and then as a supervisor, retiring in 2007.
He was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, Lewistown. He was a member of Seven Mountains Boy Scouts, volunteered at Haven Ministries, vice president of Council 13, president and vice-president of Local 166, Selinsgrove.
He was on Council 86 E-Board, was a regional president of 8600, vice-president and president of Retirees Sub-Chapter 8602, a Shop Steward for many years and did Steward training.
He was involved in the Political Action Team for 82, representative for Council 86 for the Statewide Department of Public Welfare.
He was on the Local Union Training Structure Committee, active in Central Labor Council and A.F.L.C.I.O. and was president of Local 166 AFSCME.
He was owner and promoter of Miss Northeastern PA American Pageant.
He enjoyed socializing and dining at "Pops" Snyders in Sunbury.
His funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 2, at Hoenstine Funeral Home Inc., 75 Logan St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Jeffrey Thoms officiating. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park Cemetery.
Family will receive friends from 6 to 9 Friday evening at the funeral home.
