Donald W. Moser

THOMPSONTOWN- Donald W. Moser, 89, of RR 2, Thompsontown and former resident of Somerville, N.J. for 20 years, died Friday, April 17, 2009, at his home.

Born Jan. 25, 1920, in Jersey City, N.J., he was a son of the late Henry and Anna (English) Moser. His wife, Mary (Faherty) Moser, died Dec. 20, 2007.

He will be sorely missed by his two daughters, Patricia Heisler of Somerville, N.J. and Donna Zucker and husband Geoff of Amherst, Mass., six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Walter F. Moser.

He served during World War II in the U.S. Army as a rifleman in the 16th Infantry Reg., 1st Division in Europe where he was wounded and received the Purple Heart with one oak leaf cluster.

He retired from the U.S. Corps of Engineers, Norfolk, Va.

He was a life member of Disabled American Veterans Chapter Newport #49 and a member of Zembo Temple A.A.O.N.M.S., Scottish Rite Consistory, Tall Cedars of Lebanon Forest #48, and Keystone Chapter #25 Royal Arch. He was a past master of Solomons Lodge #46.

His funeral will be at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, April 21, 2009, at Guss Funeral Home, 20 South Third St., Mifflintown with Rev. Mike Sigler officiating. A Masonic memorial service will be conducted by Union Lodge #324 prior to the service and military honors will be accorded by the Juniata County Veterans Council following the service.

Interment will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery at the convenience of the family. There will be a visitation from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the services Tuesday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Disabled American Veterans, Chapter #49, 232 West Main St., New Bloomfield, PA 17068.
