Man leads police on car chase

MIFFLINTOWN - A 39-year-old Burnham man faces multiple charges after leading police on a high-speed chase Friday evening that ended in Mifflintown, according to Mifflin County Regional Police.
Darvin R. Peachey was driving a red Ford pick-up truck on U.S. 322 East when police attempted to stop him for a vehicle code violation and possible involvement in a gasoline theft, police said. According to police, Peachey refused to stop his vehicle and led police on an 11-mile chase with speeds in excess of 110 miles per hour.
Police said the pursuit came to an end in Mifflintown with the assistance of Pennsylvania State Police. Peachey struck a state police cruiser, then lost control of his vehicle and struck a parked car in Mifflintown, police said.
According to police, the vehicle driven by Peachey during the pursuit was stolen. Peachey faces charges of theft of a motor vehicle, receiving stolen property, aggravated assault, recklessly endangering another person, possession of drug paraphernalia, fleeing or attempting to elude police, DUI, driving under suspension, reckless driving, careless driving and speeding.
Peachey was arraigned and placed in Mifflin County Correctional Facility in lieu of $175,000 bail.
