GRANVILLE - A 52-year-old Lewistown man was flown to Hershey Medical Center on Friday evening for treatment as a result of a two-vehicle accident that occured at the intersection of state Route 103 and Duquesne Way in Granville, a press release from Granville Township Police Department stated.
Police said the accident occured at about 4:45 p.m., as a 1995 Emergency-One Junction Fire Co. fire engine, driven by Scott Allen Beers, 43, of Lewistown, and a 1991 Mercury Topaz, owned by Fred J. Gemberling collided at the intersection.
The preliminary investigation revealed that the Emergency-One fire engine proceeded onto state Route 103 from Duquesne Way as it was responding to a reported fire call. Police said the driver's-side front end of the fire engine collided with the passenger-side front end of the Mercury Topaz, which was southbound on state Route 103 at the time of the incident.
At the time of accident, police said emergency lights and audible signals were activated on the fire truck.
Gemberling was flown to Hershey Medical Center for an undisclosed amount of injuries. Two passengers in Gemberling's vehicle, Michael S. Huffstutler, age 45, and Cathy L. Goodman, age 48, both of Lewistown, were transported to Lewistown Hospital for treatment. Goodman was later transferred to Hershey Medical Center, police said.
