Larry L. Feathers

YEAGERTOWN - Larry L. Feathers, 72, of 5 Sunrise Drive, Yeagertown, entered eternal rest at his home surrounded by his family at 3:25 p.m. Thursday, March 26, 2009.

Born Oct. 19, 1936, in Lewistown, he was the son of the late Richard A. and Lydia (Grumbine) Feathers. His wife, Lucinda M. (Becker) Feathers, whom he married Feb. 14, 1960, survives.

Also surviving are: children, Barry L. Feathers, of Lewistown, Kamie M. Feathers, of Herndon, Va. and Mark J. Feathers and his wife, Brenda, of Laurel, Del.; and four grandchildren, Jennah Nicole, Brady Lee, Tanza Elizabeth and Tori May.

He was preceded in death by three sisters, Jane Snook, Bette Smith and Marie Jones.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force having trained at Francis E. Warren AFB, Wyoming as a communication center specialist and Lackland AFB, Texas as a cryptographer.

He was stationed at Robbins AFB, Georgia, served a tour at Goose Bay, Labrador and returned to the Pentagon stationed at Fort Myer, Va.

He was on two year active reserve assigned to HG CONAC, ARRC, Denver, Colo.

While at Goose Bay, he hosted his own night-time radio show called "Larry's Wax Works".

He was a 1956 graduate of Lewistown High School and worked as an apprentice at Maunder's Print Shop in Lewistown until enlistment.

He retired from Raytheon, State College, as a Senior Security Specialist in 1998 with 38 years of service.

He was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Ich Dien Sunday School Class and Barnabas Brothers Men's Group.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 120 N. Main Street, Lewistown with the Rev. Gary Roth officiating. Interment will be in Lind Memorial Cemetery. Full graveside military honors will be conducted by VFW Post 7011 Lewistown.

Family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Heller-Hoenstine Burnham Funeral Home, 108 First Ave., Burnham.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Barnabus Brothers or Ich Dien Sunday School Class, c/o St. John's Lutheran Church, 120 N. Main St., Lewistown, PA 17044.
