C. Marlin and Miriam (Taylor) Wert, of Port Royal, celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary at Cedar Grove Brethren in Christ Church on Feb. 8, 2009.

The Werts were recognized during the church service by their pastor, and were honored in a reception line that included their daughters, Susan Vogt and Peggy Love, and their families. A luncheon was prepared by Doug and Michelle Meiser for the immediate family, and served in the church's fellowship hall.

For some years, the Werts were known in Juniata, Mifflin and Perry counties as insurance agents. After they sold their agency, Miriam worked as agency supervisor for Merchants and Business Men's Mutual Insurance Co. of Harrisburg, until her retirement.

Marlin served in the U.S. Navy from 1940 to 1946, during World War II, after which he worked in construction, insurance and truck driving.

Both enjoy reading, and Marlin enjoys television. Miriam learned how to use a computer after her retirement and continues to use it daily, including e-mailing friends from coast to coast. Both enjoy visits from friends and neighbors and Marlin enjoys daily visits to The Point Service Station to be with friends.

The Werts have, for many years, been grateful for their church, and have been appreciated in return.

The have six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

They said in addition to their personal relationship with the Lord, they "enjoy being with each other and visits with the family."
