LEWISTOWN - Friends of Lewistown Hospital will hold a casino night fundraiser from 6:30 to 10 p.m. on Nov. 14 at the Central Juniata EMS building in Mifflintown.
Funds raised will go toward new equipment for the cancer treatment center that is undergoing expansion, said Deb Yingling, volunteer service coordinator at Lewistown Hospital.
"Cancer is something that's touched everyone in some way," she said.
About 200 tickets are available for the event. Gaming will be provided by JACKPOT Casino Events, and will include poker, black jack, a money wheel and roulette. Tickets are $35 per person or $60 per couple, and include an hors d'oeuvres buffet which includes dessert and three free alcoholic beverages. Participants also can win prizes at the end of the evening through the Chinese auction, Yingling said.
"We're just hoping for people to come out and have a good time," she said. "It's just all in fun."
This is the first year Friends of Lewistown Hospital is doing the casino night event. Previous fundraisers for the hospital include fashion shows and golf tournaments, Yingling said.
"Hopefully it will be something that people will want to do again," she said. "I think it's going to be a fun time."
Friends of Lewistown Hospital is a volunteer organization committed to providing services, programs, philanthropic advancement and fundraising for the Lewistown Healthcare Foundation and the community, according to Lewistown Hospital's Web site.
