Charles E. Barnett

MIFFLINTOWN - Charles E. Barnett, 69, of Mifflintown, died at 12:25 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 19, 2008, at his home.

Born on Sept. 25, 1938, in Hickory Township, Forest County, he is a son of the late Lester and Geraldine (Sutley) Barnett. His wife of 47 years, Barbara M. (Morrison) Barton, whom he married on Aug. 18, 1961, survives.

He is survived by: his children, John D. Barnett, of Mifflintown, Donna M. Blanteno, of Enola; and a sister, Janet Carol Barnett, of West Hickory.

He was a United States Navy veteran.

His career of 38 years started with the Pennsylvania Railroad and he retired as a signalman with the Norfolk Southern Railroad.

Mr. Barnett was a member of the Union Lodge No. 324, F&AM, Mifflintown, the Juniata Forest No. 88, Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Brotherhood of Railroad Signalman Local No. 1, American Legion Post No. 298 and the Crawford-Brubaker VFW Post No. 5863, both of Mifflintown.

Charles enjoyed traveling, gardening, collecting and working on antique cars.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 22, 2008, from the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown, with Pastor Jerry Miller officiating. Interment will follow in Westminster Presbyterian Cemetery, Mifflintown, where the Juniata County Veterans Council will accord full military burial honors.

Viewing will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service on Monday, Sept. 22, 2008, at the funeral home.

Memorial donations in Mr. Barnett's memory may be made to Hospice: The Bridge, 400 Highland Ave., Lewistown, PA 17044.
