HYDE - Indian Valley's Nickolas Myers jumpstarted his team in both the first and second half with long touchdowns.

But the Warriors couldn't contain a lethal Clearfield offense, and fell to the Bisons, 35-20, Friday night at the Bison Sports Complex.

Myers took the opening kickoff 95 yards for a score to give Indian Valley a quick 6-0 lead, and then added an 85-yard jaunt right through the heart of the Bison defense just 4:33 into the second half that closed the gap of the scoreboard to 21-20.

For the game, Myers had four kickoff returns for 179 yards and rushed the ball five times for 130.

Indian Valley head coach Tom Shearer said the Warriors felt pretty good when they jumped on the Bisons on the opening kickoff.

"We did feel pretty good," he said. "But we knew it was a long game, and we knew they had a lot of weapons. But that's better than not scoring. It was a good start."

Clearfield answered the quick Warrior score with a 12-play, 60-yard drive that culminated with a 20-yard touchdown toss from Jarrin Campman to Derek Morgan on fourth and goal.

Campman engineered a second touchdown drive in the first quarter, leading the Bisons 48 yards to paydirt on six plays, capping off the drive with an eight-yard touchdown run. Indian Valley helped the Bison cause with a pass interference penalty on fourth-and-9 from the Warrior 32.

Campman finished the game with 136 yards and four touchdowns on the ground, He added 105 yards and a score through the air, completing 9 of his 16 pass attempts.

"We knew Campman was good, and we just couldn't stop him enough," Shearer said. "I think we did a lot of good things. I think we played well. I'm proud of our kids. But we just came up short. We knew Clearfield was a very good team."

Indian Valley closed the gap when William Long took a quarterback option around the right end for 45 yards. Long had 84 yards on 12 carries.

But Campman gave the Bisons a 21-12 halftime lead when he scored from six yards out with 2:11 left in the half.

Myers gave the Warriors a lift the first time he touched the ball after the break, busting through the line of scrimmage untouched and racing 85 yards for the score. A two-point conversion pass from Long to Morgan Barger got Indian Valley to within a point of the lead, 21-20.

"We have our standard left and right kick," Shearer said. "It's been that way for a couple years. We just went to the right and he got through and made some moves. It wasn't anything fancy."

After the Myers burst, Clearfield took control of the game with a two-pronged rushing attack featuring Campman and tailback Isiah Morgan. Morgan only had 14 yards on four carries in the first half, but handled the ball 13 times for 82 in the second.

His power running combined with Campman's quick bursts through the line were tough for the Warriors to contain.

"We knew (Morgan) was a good runner and we figured with the weather we'd get a heavy dose of him," Shearer said. "Between him and Campman, we just couldn't stop them enough."

Campman added touchdown runs of 32 and 6 yards to finish off the scoring.

Cody Battista added 48 yards on eight carries for Indian Valley, which churned out 259 yards on the ground. The Warriors were 0-for-5 passing, with a pair of interceptions.

"We played gutsy," Shearer said. "We're still young. It's only the third game, and we have a lot of new kids playing that haven't played varsity before. But I think we made some forward steps against a very good Clearfield team that's going to win a lot of games."

The Bisons improved the 2-1 on the season, while the Warriors dropped to 1-2.

Indian Valley is back in action Friday, playing host to DuBois.
