Fred E. “Jake” Wolfley
LEWISTOWN - Fred E. "Jake" Wolfley, 72, of 4 Woods Lane, Lewistown, went to be with the Lord at 7:53 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2008, at Lewistown Hospital.
Born Dec. 7, 1935, in Lewistown, he was a son of the late Charles Thomas and Mary Elizabeth (Swanger) Wolfley. His wife, Sandra J. (May) Wolfley, whom he married Aug. 2, 1961, survives.
Also surviving are: daughters, Diana L. Wolfley and her companion, Jeffrey Wagner, of Yeagertown and Angie J. Wolfley and her fiance, Gary W. Landis, of Lewistown; two granddaughters, Kristen Knepp and Shannon Wolfley; two great-grandsons, Ethan and Andrew; brother-in-laws, Ronald Wertz and wife, Judy, and Henry Kephart and wife, Janet and many very special nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, Franklin Craig Wolfley, two brothers and two sisters.
He served in the National Guard for six years. He was employed by Lewistown Borough Maintenance Dept., retiring in 1998.
He was a born again Christian. Early in life he was an avid softball player.
He also was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Penn State Football fan and enjoyed fishing, playing horseshoes and spending time with his great-grandsons. He was a great animal lover.
His funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 6 at Hoenstine Funeral Home, Inc., 75 Logan St., Lewistown with the Rev. Richard Bender officiating. Interment will be at Lind Memorial Cemetery.
Family will receive friends from noon Saturday until the time of service at the funeral home.
