BURNHAM - Richard J. Walls, 72, of 303 Fifth Ave., Burnham died at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 23, 2008, at Lewistown Hospital.

Born March 19, 1936, in Yeagertown, he was son of the late Gerald F. and Marjorie C. (Shehan) Walls. His wife, Shirley E. (Rhea) Walls, whom he married Oct. 4, 1959, survives.

Also surviving: children, Janet L. Irizarry and her husband, Manuel, of Lewistown, Denise K. Baumgardner, of Lewistown and Larry R. Walls and his wife, Bonnie, of Claremore, Okla.; grandchildren, Kristie, William, Kortnee, Marissa, and Ally.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Staff Sgt. Ronald R. Walls in Vietnam, on Sept. 26, 1968.

He served in the United States Air Force. He was a truck driver for Sitkins, Noerrs and Krentzman, and was currently employed at Pheasant Valley Recycling.

He was a member of Park View Church of the Brethren and a life member of Yeagertown, Brooklyn and City Fire companies.

He was a model railroad enthusiast and enjoyed collecting and displaying his trains. He enjoyed hunting, was a member of Bixler Gap Hunting Camp and enjoyed collecting and recycling scrap.

His funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 27 at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Home, Inc. 108 First Ave., Burnham with Pastor Ronald Stacey and Pastor Ron Baker officiating. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park.

His family will receive friends from 7 to 9 Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
