LEWISTOWN - L. May Rupert, 78, of 3608 state Route 103 N, Lewistown, went to be with her Lord and Savior at 8:42 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2008, at Golden Living Center-William Penn Nursing Home.
Born Oct. 24, 1929, in Granville, she was a daughter of the late Walter H. and Margaret B. (Buchanan) Fisher. Her husband, LeRoy "Popeye" Rupert, whom she married Oct. 21, 1950, survives.
Also surviving are: sons, Kevin L. Rupert and Kelly F. Rupert and his wife, Joyce, all of Lewistown; brothers and sisters, Leon "Jim" Fisher and his wife, Sally, of McClure, Susan J. Henry and her husband, Richard, of Lewistown, Clara Belle Wilson and her husband, Howard, of Lewistown, Walter E. "Rusty" Fisher and his wife, Janet, of Granville; grandchildren, Dr. Alison Rupert, Judson Rupert and his wife, Christy, Alicia Rupert, Victor Rupert, Joshua Rupert and his wife, Bobbie, and Anna Margaret Rupert; great-grandchildren, Thatcher and Preston Rupert.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Susan E. Rupert; a son, Victor James Rupert; and a sister, Alice Faye Fisher.
She was the fountain manager at Rea and Derrick Drug Store for 20 years and retired in the spring of 1994 with 20 years of service from Skills of Central Pennsylvania where she was a cook and supervisor.
She was a very active member of Granville United Methodist Church where she was a nursery attendant, Sunday school teacher, member of the United Methodist Women, volunteered as a cook, and she and her husband were church custodians. She also volunteered as a cook at the Granville Fire House.
She liked to travel, picnic and attend her grandchildren's events.
Her funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 25, at Granville United Methodist Church with the Rev. Mark Brower and Mr. Randy Traxler officiating. Interment will be in Mattawana Cemetery.
Family will receive friends from 10 a.m. Monday until the time of service at the church.
