Beatrice E. Griffith

BELLEVILLE - Beatrice E. Griffith, 97, formerly of 23 Greenwood Rd., Belleville, died at 11:20 p.m. Monday, July 21, 2008, at Ohesson Manor.

Born May 31, 1911, in Belleville, she was the daughter of the late Alvin J and Margaret Ellen (Vaughn) Stuter. Her husband, James F. Griffith, Sr., whom she married in March 1930, preceded her in death on February 29, 1984.

Surviving are: children, Jack R. Griffith, of Belleville, Ronald R. Griffith and wife Carol, of Belleville, James F. Griffith, Jr. and wife Adrienne, of Lewistown and Margaret E. Marrone and husband Ronald of Lewistown; daughter-in-law Maria A. Griffith, of Reedsville; two brothers, Edward Stuter, of Belleville and Robert Stuter of Lewistown; two sisters, Jean Wilson, of Belleville and Enid Coleman, of Belleville; sister-in-law, Mrs. Raymond (Wanda) Stuter, of Reedsville; 16 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by: her son, Joseph C. Griffith, on January 10, 2003, and eight brothers and sisters.

She was a homemaker and a member of West Kishacoquillas Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family, making apple butter, canning and baking bread.

Her funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at the West Kishacoquillas Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Samuel G. Strohm officiating. Burial will take place at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Belleville. The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until the time of service on Friday at the church.
