PORT?ROYAL?- Tim Wilson doesn't like to finish second. Recently, Wilson compared runner-up honors to kissing his sister.

He didn't have to do that Saturday night at Port Royal Speedway.

Lady luck smiled his way when race leader Tim Fedder had engine problems with just two laps left, and Wilson won his first late model feature of the season Saturday night.

"That was a shame for Tim," Wilson said. "Still, he's won once and I wanted to win so I'm glad I'm here."

A loud contingent of fans cheered Wilson from the stage and grandstand.

"I want to thank these fans for coming out when the sprint cars (410s) aren't here," he said.

Twenty-five competitors were pitside, and Nate Kerstetter, Fedder and Scott Flickinger won qualifiers. Kerstetter lined up in second position to start the feature and immediately took the lead, but he only stayed in front for one lap.

Mike Hess, who started on the pole, grabbed the lead and stayed out front until lap 10. Fedder took over on lap 11 and appeared headed toward his second win of the year.

It wasn't to be. While the race was under yellow for Matt Murphy and Flickinger, Fedder stopped on the backstretch. The lap 18 incidents eliminated all three. Fedder's engine lost oil and fuel pressure after internal problems struck. Mike Lupfer started 14th and found himself in the second spot during the final restart.

Wilson knew he was there. Lupfer's car was working well on the bottom of turns one and two. When the green light came on, Lupfer dove low entering turn one. Wilson went with him and successfully blocked Lupfer's charge. Wilson expected the move.

"Mike runs good at Hagerstown down low, so I knew he would be there," Wilson said.

The pair finished first and second at the checkered flag. Mitch Hack ran strong for the second week in a row to finish third. Hess and Waylon Wagner completed the top five. Sixth through 10th were Jere Wierman, Eric Zembower, Kerstetter, Alan Sagi and Scott LeBarron.

Young Dylan Cisney of Port Royal continues to impress since moving up to super sportsman tour racing. Cisney scored his first career win last week at William's Grove Speedway.

Cisney proved it was no fluke by leading every lap of the Port Royal main.

"It was one he really wanted to win" said his father, Dave.

Cisney received an additional $500 bonus from a race fan that wished to remain anonymous.

Stan Wanner finished second with Jake Raudabaugh third. Frankie Herr was fourth and Doug Hendricks fifth. Completing the top 10 were Derek Locke, Paul Miller, Scott Dellinger, Bobby Hockenberry and Steve Fannasy. Hendricks, Cisney and Jay Fannasy won heat races. There were 25 cars.

Bill Powell scored his second win of the year in enduro action. Powell grabbed the lead on lap 12 from Alan Noss, who started on the pole. The pair raced each other to the checkered flag. Noss repeatedly tried to use the top side of the track but couldn't pass Powell, who stayed in the middle of the track, which was full of rubber.

"I like the black slick," Powell said. "My car doesn't look quite as pretty after I spend my money keeping my wife's (powder puff) car looking good."

Terry Naugle finished third with Steve Harlan fourth. Jan Powell came home fifth. Adam Yetter, Craig Imes, Herm Renninger, Brian Henry and Deron Henry followed.

The make-up 305 sprint car feature was won by Michael Heckman. Heckman credited his prior experience with 410 sprint cars as a reason for his success.

"It's just about seat time," Heckman said.

Mike Wagner II finished second. Mike Freet, Brian Sweitzer and Tyler Bear were in the top five. The remainder of the top 10 included Todd Spangler, Logan Wagner, Brent Comp, Ron Farrar and Ron Aurand.

The night's regularly scheduled 305 event included a bizarre twist when three of the top five finishers were disqualified for being light when they crossed the scales.

Brent Comp was the winner. The revised finish found Heckman second and Mike Wagner II third. Nathan Gramley finished fourth with Reed Thompson fifth. Sixth through 10th were Cowboy Jim Kennedy, Ron Farrar, Mike Freet, Erin Statler and Jake Waters. Youtzy, Heckman and George Riden won heat races. There were 28 cars.

Action continues Saturday when the sprint cars, late models and pro stocks compete. The York County Racing Club will make their annual visit to the track. Club members receive a discount on general admission tickets by presenting their membership cards.

The night is the final tuneup before the two-day Dream Race Extreme event July 31 and Aug. 2. The 50-lap sprint car finale pays $30,000 to the winner. Two-day general admission discount passes are now on sale by contacting the speedway office at (717)-527-4414.

Lincoln Speedway

ABBOTTSTOWN - Kevin Nagy grabbed the lead from his pole starting position, held off a

furious mid-race challenge from outside front row starter Austin Reed, and

then held off a late-race charge by 15th-starting Scott Geesey to pick up his first career Lincoln Speedway win in the 20-lap 358 sprint feature.

A 27-time Lincoln thundercar winner, Craig Wagaman claimed his first Lincoln win in the "358" late model 20-lap feature event.

Sam Gallagher and Ronnie Thomas were winners in the thundercar

features.

Selinsgrove Speedway

SELINSGROVE?- In one of the most exciting Jack Gunn Memorial races ever at Selinsgrove Speedway, Blane Heimbach passed point leader Pat Cannon on the 25th circuit for his third win of the season in the 30-lap Gunn Memorial 358 Sprint Car Challenge Race Saturday night.

Tony Adams became the third driver to win two late-model features this season in the division's 25-lap main event, while Chad Davis of Muir won his third race of the season in the 15-lap pro stock main event.
