Robert W. Romig Jr.
BELLEVILLE – Robert W. Romig Jr., 80, of 266 Walnut St., Belleville, died at 7:35 p.m. Wednesday, May 28, 2008, in the emergency room of Lewistown Hospital.
Born July 6, 1927, in Reedsville, he was a son of the late Robert W. Sr. and Fern (Speckler) Romig. His wife, Elsie L. (Blair) Romig, preceded him in death on Jan. 7, 2000.
Surviving are children, Melanie S. Romig, of Belleville, Melissa K. Hinson and her husband, Bernie, of Willow Springs, N.C., and Robert W. Romig III, and his wife, Beckie, of State College.
Also surviving are sisters, Jessie McKeehan and Ann Wilson, both of Yeagertown, and four grandchildren, Kaila Mitchell, Nathan Hinson, Ben Romig and Sarah Romig.
He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict.
He was a fireman in the heat treating department of Standard Steel for 45 years until his retirement.
He was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Belleville. He was a lifetime hunter and fisherman, he enjoyed playing horseshoes and working in his vegetable garden.
His funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, May 31, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Home Inc., 108 First Ave., Burnham, with the Rev. Philip C. Tundel officiating. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park.
There will be no viewing. Memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
