The West blitzes McVeytown

LEWISTOWN — Lewistown West moved closer to the top with a 20-1, five-inning win over McVeytown in the only game played in the Mifflin County Babe Ruth League Tuesday.
The game ended after five innings due to the 10-run rule.
The West now has an 8-2 record and trails league-leading Belltown (8-0) by a game and second-place Reedsville (8-1) by a half-game.
Lewistown West batters pounded out 19 hits with two rookies leading the way. Cy Treaster and Hunter Yocum each had three hits with Treaster getting a double.
Kirby Moist, Hunter Walker, Nicholas Snook and Treavor Peachey each had two hits. Snook and Peachey are also 13-year-olds.
Kody Smeltz, another rookie, picked up with the pitching win with three innings of work. He struck out four, walked no one and gave up three hits. Treaster finished the game with two innings of work.
Cody Wilt scored McVeytown’s lone run as he doubled in the third and later scored. Ryan Knable and Tyler Knepp each had singles for McVeytown (0-8).
